In the final non-conference game of the 2009 season, Penn State used a monstrous second quarter to defeat the Eastern Illinois Panthers in front of 104,000+ at Beaver Stadium on Saturday. The win moves Penn State to 5-1 on the season heading into next week’s homecoming game against the Golden Gophers.

Playing in their first road test of the 2009 season, the Nittany Lions broke out the all-vanillas and ran up, through and around the Illinois defense en route to a 35-17 win. The 338 rushing yards were a season high for Penn State, a team which had been struggling to gain yards on the ground for the first four games of the year.
